The Calabar Returned Missionaries Association known as CReMA has rounded up its a 2-day Christmas Get-together in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, Nigeria South South geopolitical region.
The two days activities were respectively held at the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the University of Calabar Secondary school football field during the weekend.
Truth Live News reports that the Get-together which was to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ had a light touch of culture and sports put together by the organizing committee.
Also, different cultures in Nigeria such as Efik, Yoruba, Ibo, Hausa and Ibibios among others added, made the event more colorful.
The Chairman of the CReMA planning committee Brother Wilfred Chukwuemeka, while addressing members on the importance of the event with the Theme, “Our Cultures Denote That, There’s God,” emphasized on promoting our culture alongside the Gospel.
Brother Chukwuemeka expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity given them to gather together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ alongside African cultures.
He told the Calabar Returned Missionaries who are of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that it was high time that they come together as an Association to enable them remain in the covenant path.
He took time to describe African delicacies such as afang, melon, Ofada rice and plantain porridge as ancestral food, handed down to our generation.
“Brothers and sisters as we choose to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with culture and sports, “let us not forget that they without us cannot be made perfect nor we could be perfect without them,” he said. That family history work is the duty of every member and called on everyone to take family history activities seriously.
Meanwhile, the president of the Calabar Nigeria Stake of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints President Alex Nkoro, said the activities were meant to celebrate the birth of the Saviour while dining and wining with one another.
According to him, “the overall success of the Get-together was a 100 percent, in the sense that the Association was able unite the RM’s and reminded them of their responsibility as those who have labour in the Lord’s vineyards.
In an interview at the remarkable reunion of all Returned Missionaries in Calabar, president Nkoro, reminded them that as a Returned Missionary their service is required to continue in as much as they magnified their callings in their respective wards and Stakes.
“The ability for us to unite ourselves is the backbone of the activities, we have come together in love as Jesus Christ did preach of Love and unity, and that have been achieved this year’s event,” Nkoro said.
“We will see how we could improve on it by intensifying effort on Missionary work and to invite our friends, seriously working with the full time Missionaries to invite others to come unto Christ.”

In off record, the participants who expressed their satisfaction over everything about the event said, “it was full fun and memory,” they noted that it was necessary for them to gathered and strengthen one another.
Meanwhile, The Calabar Returned Missionaries Association (CReMA) is a non political organization with an aim of helping their members to achieve success in their spiritual and temporary endeavors.
Highlights of the two days event were presentation of award to deserving members Christmas carol and traditional dances and football, egg race, 100m race by the female category and many more competition between Married and single members of the Church.
