C’River: Brave Neighbours Foil Kidnap Of Woman In Calabar

Men suspected to be kidnappers have been apprehended by good and brave Neighbours for attempting to kidnap a woman.

Eyewitnesses say the kidnappers coerced their victim Mrs Caroline Bassey, into her car in Calabar at about 11:30 a.m on Saturday.

The kidnappers who pretended to be people who want to rent chairs from her successfully kidnapped her in her residence at Peter Ojie street off Winners Way in Calabar Municipality, south south Nigeria.

Mrs Bassey is said to be the twin sister of the Former Permanent Secretary Cross River State Ministry of Health Dr. Joseph Bassey.

The kidnappers, according to report, came in a Toyota Camry car, after tying one of her aides and dumped him in the refrigerator, drove out of Mrs Bassey’s compound with her in her own personal car.

“When alarm was raised, a dare brave Good Samaritan blocked them and in a bid to abandon their Camry vehicle, jumped out to join their colleagues in the victim’s car, the brave Good Samaritan knocked one of them down with his Toyota Hilux vehicle,” they said.

Truth Live News gathered that the State Security Adviser South Commander Patrick Odiong, and the DPO Federal Housing police station were immediately contacted.

The paper was informed that their swift reaction /coordination with other security outlets the kidnappers were eventually intercepted along Akamkpa LGA.

As luck ran out of them, Mrs Bassey was rescued and the men apprehended were later handed over to the police for necessary action.
