In order to take the state to an unimaginable height, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has solicited support from other political parties.
In his message to his kinsmen at the ‘2023 Mbube new yam’ festival held in Ogoja LGA, Northern Senatorial District South South Nigeria, Odey said that Politics is over, it is now time to come together and promote the MBE PROJECT.
Odey who is the native of Mbube and represented at the occasion by his Head of personnel staff Dr. Chris Ojikpong, said “I call on my brothers and sisters in the other political parties , to come together and support me.”
He said he cannot do it all alone and that a tree cannot make a forest “I need you so that we grow Mbe and take our community to greater heights unimaginable,” he begs.
While explaining the significance of the festival. Hon Odey said “On this very ancient cultural festival that reminds us of our root, culture and heritage, I congratulate the Traditional Rulers Council, Chiefs and the entire sons and daughters of Mbube at home and in the diaspora.
He expressed his gratitude to kinsmen over his election saying that he cherish the peace and unity he has enjoyed over the years. The deputy governor noted that as was demonstrated in the last elections, their love and support was unprecedented and promised not take it for granted.
“As a people, Odey reminded his kinsmen that they have no other home than MBUBE and that they must do everything within their power to ensure that they stay together and stand in love and solidarity.
“I have never been loved this much in my entire life, the kindness I received during the last elections cannot be quantified,” Hon Odey confessed, “You all came out and voted massively for Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and my self as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively.”
“Today, we have a Deputy Governor who is your son. One of you is a Deputy Governor. This is a sign of great things and development. It shows we are growing and we will continue to promote the Mbe project at all level,” he continued.
“Once again, I congratulate you all and plead for your support, prayers and wise counsels so that we take Cross River State to the next level of our developmental drive. Even as we put the People First,” he concluded.
