The Ministry of Youths and Sports Development has announced that it was making plan for the incoming Governmment to make it more relevance and successful for the new sports managers in Cross River State.
The Commissioner for Sports and Cinematography Chief Offu Aya represented by Rev. Ayo Egba said this at the inauguration of the Eight-Man Sports Managers Association in Calabar.
In an interview, Egba said that the ministry which had been known to have at least 43 sports will urge the new managers to ensure the strong ones develop the weakest.
He said the essence of Sports Managers’ Association was not all about holding Annual General Meeting (AGM) but to come together to share love, know it’s problems and see how to solve them.
“As a ministry we are putting things on ground for the next Governmment to make it more relevance and successful for them,” Egba said.
In her response, the newly Inaugurated Chairman, Sports Managers Association for the state sports Commission Mrs. Rosemary Usang said the Association will embark on reorganization of sports’ directors and will be looking forward to have a studio room with modern equipment.
Mrs. Usang then again said that as Sports Managers, they will synergize with the Coaches for development and success of the athletes.
According her, the AGM which had commenced with a Novelty match between Sports managers Association and Sports Coaches saw the Sports managers leading the game with two goals to one.
“If we have a studio with TV, DVD and WIFI, it will really go along way to help sports managers to follow the trend of event in sports in all over the world, as well as have appraisal of their events soon after they returned.” She said.
On his part, the Director of Sports C’River sports Commission, represented by the Senior special assistant to the Governor on Athletes Development Mr. Okoho Eyo, said the inauguration of the managers was a good development in the event of sports.
“My advice to them is that they should carry everyone along and make sure sporting activities are revived in the state to create more employment for the youths.” Eyo said.
