C’River: ‘You Are Ambassadors Of Knowledge’ – Gov. Otu Tells BYU-Pathway Graduands

The Governor of Cross River State Sen Bassey Edet Otu, has described the Brigham Young University Pathway students as ambassadors of knowledge, equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of the society.

Governor Bassey Otu made this known at the Brigham Young University-Pathway Worldwide 2nd graduation ceremony in Calabar, Cross River State capital, south south Nigeria.

“You are not just recipients of degrees and certificates,” Gov. Otu said. “You are ambassadors of knowledge, equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of our society.”

Represented by the speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, the Governor said the transformative power of education is more than the accumulation of facts but a journey of self-discovery and character development.

According to him, the Brigham Young University Pathway is a beacon of enlightenment that shapes the character and fosters the intellectual growth of its students.

“The BYU-Pathway has had on the socio-economic landscape of Cross River State a significant impact since its establishment in 2009,” he said.

Gov. Otu used the occasion to urge the graduands to use the values instilled in them to make a positive impact while they step into the world beyond academic.

The International Area Manager of Brigham Young University, Pathway Worldwide Dr. Victor Bassey Ukorebi, who earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Brigham Young University-Idaho, said he was happy with the governor’s fatherly advice.

He said the BYU-Pathway is helping students get the gospel down to their heart, preparing them to lead and support families.

“I am happy with the governor of Cross River State for honoring our invitation,” he said.

Dr. Ukorebi prayed for his continued grace in leading Cross River State to the next level of enviable height.

Others who spoke at the event Including families of the graduands, distinguished guests, and the academic community from all over the country described the 2nd graduation ceremony as the first of its kind in higher education and signifies the university’s commitment to ensuring that their online distance learners are included in all aspects of the University experience.
