Cross River Governor Unveils New University Leaders—See Who Made the List

CALABAR, CROSS RIVER  – The Acting Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, has approved the appointment of key officials to oversee the transition and launch of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship in Akamkpa.

Announcing the appointments, Chief Press Secretary Nsa Gill stated, “The management team will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition from the former College of Education to a full-fledged university.”

Professor Patrick Nyong Asuquo has been named Vice-Chancellor. Previously, he served as Provost of the College of Education.

According to Gill, Asuquo “is an experienced academic with numerous nationally and internationally recognized publications to his credit.”

Other appointees include Dr. Gabriel O. Egbe as Registrar, Dr. Eyo Bassey Ekpe as Bursar, and Dr. Christopher Okoi Offem as Librarian. Additionally, Chief (Dr.) Akpeh Edung Ogon will serve as Director of Physical Planning, while Engr. Bassey Ibok Eyo takes on the role of Director of Works and Services.

The appointments take immediate effect. Officials say the new university will focus on education and entrepreneurship, equipping students with skills for self-reliance and economic development.
