‘Dear Alex Iwobi Be Strong’ – Sports Minister Reacts To Cyber Bullying Of Super Eagles Player

The Nigeria sports Minister Sen John Owan Enoh, has condemned in a strong term the cyber bullying of the super Eagles’ Player Alex Iwobi.

He took to his Facebook page to issue out a statement against the bullying of the player who brought home a silver medal from AFCON 2023.

Iwobi was part of the super Eagles team who played against Ivorians in the just concluded AFCON 2023, on Sunday.

In the statement the sports Minister said: “I condemn strongly the cyber bullying of Alex Iwobi or any other sports man or woman.”

Nevertheless, “they give a lot if not all of themselves when representing our Nation.”

“The least we can do is rally support for them, be kind and gracious with words and actions towards them.”

“Dear Alex Iwobi be strong.”

In addition to his message, Enoh said he was part of a team that brought home a silver medal from AFCON 2023.

Meanwhile, “the last time we won a silver was twenty three years ago at AFCON 2000,” he noted.

In fact, Cyber bullies do not determine what the leadership of the country.

On the other hand, he added “The rest of Nigerians including myself, think of you.”

Moreover, “You did your best, gave over fourth days for the love of the nation.”

In conclusion the Minister said “We applaud you. We are proud of you, keep soaring.”

Meanwhile, as a step to show gratitude, President Bola Tinubu has approved the following gifts for the Super Eagles Team.

Member of the Order of Niger Award to the entire Super Eagles Team Players and Management.

One residential unit in Nigeria for the Super Eagles Team.

A plot of land for every member of the Super Eagles Team in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Mr. William Troost-Ekong, the Vice-Captain, promised to work hard to surpass their achievements by winning the gold medal in the next competition.

”We are very grateful for your support during our time in Ivory Coast. We did our best until the final. I wish that we were here carrying the trophy for you.

”In 2019, I was here with a bronze medal. Now we are here with a silver medal. I have two gold-medal winners beside me here and all we can promise is that we will continue to work hard, and the next time we meet, hopefully next year, we will be bringing home a gold medal,” the Vice-Captain said.
