Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, has slammed Erik Ten Hag, the club’s coach, for refusing to use Ronaldo against Manchester City.
Ferdinand criticized Erik Ten Hag’s decision to bench Cristiano Ronaldo for the entire duration of the team’s crushing loss to Manchester City, saying Ronaldo would have made a difference.
Recall that Manchester United were defeated 6-3 by Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to hat-tricks from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.
However, in an interview with the FIVE YouTube channel, the former England international stated that Manchester United midfielders Casemiro and Cristiano Ronaldo are being disrespected.
“He ain’t been given a start in the team when he’s fit and ready…
“I wonder the impact it’s having on someone like him.
“I think we will [see Ronaldo and Casemiro play], but I think it’s the context of what games they’re playing in – they could be playing midweek Europa game. That won’t sit well with them
“They’d be sitting there going, ‘wow, I’m like the Rumbelows Cup player right now, the Carabao Cup player’.
