There was high drama at the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Monday as the case presented by Monday Okpebholo suffered a major setback during cross-examination.
A witness, Usman Majek, from Ovia South West Local Government Area, the constituency of Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, admitted to over-voting when questioned by opposing lawyers.
Shocked by the revelation, Okpebholo’s legal team abruptly ended their case after presenting only a single witness. The unexpected turn of events left the lawyer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) scrambling, prompting a request for adjournment.
The tribunal granted the request and postponed further proceedings until Wednesday, February 12.
