Dubai is set to solidify its status as a global aviation hub with the unveiling of plans for Al Maktoum International Airport, poised to become the largest airport in the world. Led by Dubai’s visionary leadership, the ambitious project entails a 128 billion dirham ($35 billion) investment to construct a groundbreaking passenger terminal at the emirate’s Al Maktoum International Airport, located south of the city at Dubai World Central.

Truth Live News gathered that, once completed, Al Maktoum International Airport will dwarf its predecessor, Dubai International Airport, currently the world’s second busiest by passenger traffic. With a planned passenger capacity of up to 260 million, it will surpass the current airport’s capacity five times over.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the UAE, announced the monumental project, emphasizing the airport’s significance in shaping Dubai’s future as a global aviation powerhouse. “Al Maktoum International Airport will enjoy the world’s largest capacity, reaching up to 260 million passengers,” Sheikh Mohammed stated.

The colossal infrastructure will cover an impressive 70 square kilometers and feature 400 aircraft gates, five parallel runways, west and east processing terminals, four satellite concourses, and an uninterrupted automated people mover for passengers. Additionally, an integrated landside transport hub for roads, metro, and city air transport will ensure seamless connectivity to and from the airport.

The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in a decade, boasting a capacity to accommodate 150 million passengers annually. This milestone underscores Dubai’s unwavering commitment to innovation and development, as it strives to meet the evolving demands of global air travel.

With Al Maktoum International Airport at its helm, Dubai is not merely constructing an airport; it is building a thriving aviation ecosystem. An entire city is being developed around the airport, symbolizing Dubai’s dedication to fostering economic growth, connectivity, and unparalleled travel experiences.

As Dubai continues to push the boundaries of possibility, Al Maktoum International Airport stands as a testament to the emirate’s vision, ambition, and unwavering pursuit of excellence in aviation infrastructure.
