Monday Okpebholo, the Edo gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, once again evaded the press during his visit to the palace of the Oba of Benin today. Members of the Truth Live News crew, alongside other media houses present, were left disappointed as the APC party leaders shielded Okpebholo from any media interaction.
Prominent figures such as former deputy governor Lucky Imasuen and former speaker Frank Okiye were seen actively preventing the press from approaching Okpebholo. Their actions, along with the efforts of DSS officers assigned to Okpebholo, ensured that he was swiftly smuggled into a waiting SUV, which then sped off, leaving reporters with unanswered questions.
This deliberate avoidance marks yet another instance of Okpebholo’s reluctance to engage with the media, raising concerns and speculations among the public and political analysts. As one of the key figures in the APC, his silence and continued evasion are becoming increasingly notable.
The events at the palace of the Oba of Benin underscore the growing tension between Okpebholo and the press, further complicating the political landscape as the public continues to seek transparency and accountability from its leaders.
