Benin City, Edo State

In what can only be described as a desperate attempt to soar above the problems they created, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken to the skies—literally—using a helicopter to shield their ineptitude from Edo citizens while campaigning for their lackluster candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. But no matter how high they fly, they can’t escape the hard truths on the ground.

Truth Live News gathered that lsst Thursday, the so-called “dynamic duo” of Senator Adams Oshiomhole and his puppet, Senator Monday Okpebholo, were seen grandstanding in a helicopter en route to a poorly attended rally in Edo North. The reason? The Benin-Auchi Road—a federal road they’ve jointly neglected—is in such a sorry state that even their luxury convoys can’t navigate it. These two, who boast of hefty quarterly allowances totaling over ₦650 million and billions more in Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIP) funds, have failed woefully to make any significant impact on the lives of Edo people. The deplorable condition of the Benin-Auchi Road stands as a glaring testament to their broken promises and shameless propaganda.

The hypocrisy is palpable. Senator Okpebholo, who barely utters a word, now believes that hovering above the very roads he’s neglected will somehow endear him to Edo voters. And Oshiomhole, the so-called godfather, is banking on the gullibility of the electorate while glossing over years of neglect and corruption under APC’s watch.

Not only is the Benin-Auchi Road an eyesore, but the Benin-Sapele Road—especially the crumbling Ologbo axis—continues to deteriorate, endangering lives and choking businesses. Meanwhile, the only federal road worth mentioning, the Benin-Ore route, is a remnant of PDP’s legacy under Goodluck Jonathan. Yet, APC and its candidates have the audacity to seek the mandate of the people once again.

But Edo people are not fooled. They see through the staged shows and empty rhetoric. Come September 21, 2024, they will decisively ground APC’s charade and send the message loud and clear: no helicopter can carry them to victory when they’ve already crashed in the hearts and minds of the electorate.

Senator Okpebholo and his political handler, Oshiomhole, should know that Edo people are wise enough to reject a ticket rooted in neglect, incompetence, and outright deceit. The countdown has begun, and the flight of fantasy will soon come to a crashing end.

  1. Awolowo used Helicopter to campaign in Nigeria did he win the presidential election. He wasted the money of the western region and failed to be president for life
