The Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom, HRH Anslem Edenojie II, has said that the traditional rulers from Edo Central will continue to consult, negotiate with the relevant stakeholders in the state to see reasons a governorship candidate from Esan extraction should be supported and voted as governor in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The traditional disclosed this when he led other traditional rulers from Edo Central on a courtesy call on the traditional rulers in Edo North senatorial district of the state.

Truth Live News also reports that, the team had earlier met with the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II in his palace for the same purpose.

HRH Edenojie, while speaking with the Truth Live News via the telephone on the essence of the visit, said the need for the visit was occasioned on the ground that in spirit of fairness, equity and justice, it is the turn of the Central to produce the next governor of the state

“Well, we were in Edo North to consult with our brothers and colleagues traditional rulers to support the cause of having Edo Central producing the next governor, we were well received, but they also told us that they have their own candidate.

“You know, politics is all about interests and negotiations, but we have a good cause, which is justice, equity and fairness and we believe at some point they will see reasons with us and appreciate the need for us to dwell together as a family in the state with equitable sharing of positions, responsibilities and governance.

“As I said, we will continue to talk to our brothers from other senatorial zones.”

Earlier, the traditional rulers from Edo North thanked their colleagues from Edo Central but informed them bluntly that their son, Comrade Philip Shaibu who is currently the Deputy Governor already informed them that he is interested in joining the governorship race slated for next year.

They said that their support will be for their son who is also in the race to become governor of Edo State.

They added that they believed Shaibu was the best candidate for the job, citing his track record of service and commitment to the development of Edo State.

The traditional rulers said having singlehandedly built the Palace of the Ogieneni of Uzairue Kingdom, they have faith in his continued support for the traditional institution.

They also noted that his candidacy would help to bridge the gap between the two regions and unite the state towards a common goal.
