A massive crowd gathered in Orhionmwon Local Government Area as PDP governorship candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Hon. Osarodion Ogie, took their campaign to the people. Accompanied by the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and other top government officials, the campaign team received a warm reception from the community, which has remained a stronghold of support for the current administration.
Governor Obaseki, addressing the enthusiastic crowd, expressed gratitude for their unwavering support over the years. He highlighted the government’s achievements, stating, “We have attracted a 5-kilowatt power project here in Orhionmwon. When Asue and Ogie come, they will complete it.” He also emphasized plans to leverage the area’s abundant gas supply to attract investors and create new opportunities. “One government cannot achieve everything; that is why we have created the Edo master plan, which includes this local government for prospective investors,” Obaseki added.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP governorship candidate, praised Governor Obaseki’s achievements and reiterated his commitment to continuing the governor’s vision. “Our priority is to create the Edo of our dreams,” Ighodalo stated. “The governor has done so well, and we are going to complete all that he has started.”
In a show of solidarity, Hon. Newman Ugiagbe, the council chairman, vowed to deliver a massive vote for the PDP in the upcoming election, while Hon. Chris Nehikhare, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, urged voters to make informed choices. The event also witnessed a significant defection from the Labour Party, as Mr. Orobosa Osaigbovo and over 2,000 members declared their support for the PDP.
