In an appearance on Independent Television Lagos (ITV) this Monday, Deacon Darlington Okpebholo-Ray, Lead Spokesman of Team Asue Media Organisation (TAMO) and Deputy Director of Diaspora Media for the PDP Asue/Ogie Campaign Organization, challenged the Inspector General of Police to prioritize justice over prohibition.
Okpebholo-Ray criticized the decision to ban vigilante groups in Edo State, urging a thorough investigation into the recent Benin airport shooting that resulted in the tragic death of a police inspector. He emphasized the need to hold those responsible accountable, stating, “Those behind the shootings should be investigated to know what actually happened.”
Highlighting the abundance of video evidence showing individuals armed with dangerous weapons during the incident, Okpebholo-Ray questioned the lack of police action. “Nobody from those videos is being questioned or arrested,” he lamented, calling for clarity on the Inspector General’s authority to impose such a ban.
