Benin City, Edo State
Ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, non-indigenous communities in Ovia North East and South West Local Government Areas have voiced strong support for Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, and his running mate Osarodion Ogie. Represented by the Edo State Non-Indigenous Forum, which includes groups like the Hausa/Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, and Urhobo, these communities have promised to vote massively for Ighodalo.
At town hall meetings in Okada and Iguobazuwa,, covered exclusively by Truth Live News and other reputable media houses, Ighodalo addressed the enthusiastic crowd, emphasizing that the upcoming election is a critical choice between progress and retrogression. He outlined his plans for economic empowerment, agricultural development, and support for small and medium enterprises, pledging to build on the accomplishments of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
He said, “On Saturday we are going to make a very important decision in the life of Edo State. We will be deciding between moving forward or backwards, progress or retrogression or backward. We will be deciding between light and darkness and between good and evil.
“In choosing your leader, you must ask for the track records of the individuals. Give your vote to the person who can lead you well. I assure you good governance”.
Ighodalo’s candidacy was further endorsed by leaders like Hon. E.O. Efosa, who conveyed messages from prominent figures like the Esama of Benin, Chief Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, and former governor Chief Lucky Igbinedion, urging voters to back the PDP.
With broad community backing and assurances to deliver good governance, Ighodalo’s campaign has ignited optimism about a prosperous future for Edo State. Voters have been encouraged to defend their votes and not be intimidated by external forces, as they rally behind Ighodalo for a brighter tomorrow.
