As the Edo State governorship election approaches, Team Asue Media Organization (TAMO) has voiced its strong support for the upcoming debate organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON). Scheduled for September 15, this debate will feature candidates vying for the governorship seat.
In a statement issued by Erhabor Emokpae, TAMO emphasized the importance of the debate, describing it as a vital part of the democratic process.
The organization highlighted that the debate offers a unique opportunity for candidates to present their visions, share policies, and engage directly with the electorate in a controlled environment, distinct from the often chaotic atmosphere of open campaigns.
TAMO urged all candidates to participate in the debate, emphasizing that it provides a platform for transparency and accountability. The organization believes that voters can use this opportunity to assess each candidate’s competence, quick thinking, and commitment to public service.
Expressing hope that no candidate will dismiss the debate as has occurred in the past, TAMO called on all contenders to show respect for both the voters and the debate organizers. The organization also encouraged Edo voters to stay informed, ask critical questions, and engage actively in the democratic process.
TAMO commended the efforts of the NUJ, BON, and other media outlets in organizing the debate and urged candidates to focus on the issues rather than resort to personal attacks.
