The Chairman of the Edo Central Peoples Democratic Party’s Special Committee, Chief Tom Ikimi, says that all the aspirants have endorsed Asue Ighodalo for governorship ambition due to his popularity and the widespread support he enjoys.
According to Ikimi who He said, the committee had meetings upon meetings with the aspirants. The aspirants agreed to stepdown were Hon Friday Itulah, Senator Clifford Ordia, Hon John Yakubu as Hon Felix Akhabue and Anselm Ojezua were not in their last meeting and they could not tell why they were not around.
Senator Clifford Ordia express his support for the Esan Agenda, which he believes could only succeed if we set aside personal ambition and work together.
“Under the circumstances, Barr Asue Ighodalo, remaining the only aspirant facing the committee, after receiving overwhelming support from a majority of the other aspirants made an impeccable presentation to the committee”.
“We expect a free and fair election from the national leadership of the party. We expect a level playing field. We have been called to Abuja and we have told them that zoning has been part of the PDP as far as Edo State is concerned,” he said.
He further said, Dr Asuelinme Ighodalo, a frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant for the September 21, Edo governorship election on Wednesday formerly declared his intention to run for the number one seat of Edo state with a pledge to serve Edo people as the Chief Welfare Officer of the state, providing good and affordable healthcare, decent living conditions and basic food security for all citizens.
His declaration at the state PDP secretariat along Airport road, Benin city, also promised to create an Edo where quality education is accessible to all, where hard work is rewarded and where the talented youth of the state can turn their dreams and aspirations into reality if nominated and elected governor of the state, he said.
