The fear of possible break down of law and order at the Edo State House of Assembly at the Ring Road, Benin, following the suspension of three of the house members, has led to the presence of heavy security personnel, particularly members of the Edo State Security Network (ESSN), on Tuesday at the premises of the house.
Recall that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly had on Monday in a rowdy session, suspended indefinitely three members of the house for alleged impeachment plot and juju scare.
The three affected lawmakers are Hon. Donald Okogbe representing Akoko-Edo II (PDP), Bright Iyamu, Orhionmwon South (PDP), and Hon. Adeh Isibor, Esan North-East (APC).
Hon. Agbebaku had alleged that the three suspended members were being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and remove the leadership of the house.
He also alleged that some persons brought native doctors into the house at nocturnal hour on Wednesday 1, 2024 to make some incantations and dropped charms in the assembly complex.
Agbebaku, then adjourned sitting of the house to Tuesday (today) for continuation of plenary.
However, heavy security presence was sighted at the front of the house and around Ring-Road environs, apparently to forestall any possible security breach.
Journalists and parliamentarian workers were engaged in a waiting match as the house was yet to commence plenary at as at about 1pm on Tuesday.
This is even the lawmakers including the Speaker of the House was not in sight, a development learnt to be causing apprehension amongst the workers house.
