Edo Ex-Attorney General Dares APC to Prove Court Ruling Claims, Proposes ₦5m Bet

The former Attorney General of Edo State, Oluwole Iyamu SAN, has issued a bold challenge to the All Progressives Congress (APC), proposing a five million Naira (#5,000,000) bet over the recent court ruling concerning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary.

Iyamu questioned the interpretation of Justice Inyang Ekwo’s ruling from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which some have claimed invalidated the PDP primary that selected Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the candidate for the upcoming September governorship election.

Iyamu clarified that the court did not invalidate the primary.

Different parties and their counsels, including Adaze Emwanta Esq, have interpreted the ruling according to their perspectives.

The APC has celebrated the judgment with the slogan ‘Ofonee’ (It has ended). However, the PDP has dismissed these celebrations, insisting that Justice Ekwo did not nullify their primary.

Iyamu emphasized that a Certified True Copy of Justice Ekwo’s ruling would clarify the situation and put an end to the APC’s celebrations.

He challenged the APC to point out any paragraph or order in the court’s ruling that nullified the PDP primary or questioned Dr. Ighodalo’s candidacy.

“I challenge any of those claiming ‘Ofone’ to a bet of five million Naira if they can find a paragraph or court order that sets aside the PDP primary or questions Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s candidacy in this election,” Iyamu stated.

“This mischief is becoming quite irritating, and those spreading it should put their money where their mouths are. I await anyone with the courage to take up this bet,” he added.
