Edo Government Proposes Establishment of Special Needs School in Etsako West LGA

The Edo State Government has announced plans to establish a special school for children with special needs.

Mrs. Christabel Omon Ekwe, the Edo State Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, made the disclosure in Jattu, Etsako West council area during the official commissioning of an orphanage owned by the Kerimat Foundation.

She mentioned that the state government is close to finalizing plans for the establishment of a special educational school to cater to children with special learning needs, adding that Jattu has been selected as the location for the school.

Mrs Christabel also emphasized the state government’s commitment to ensuring that children with special needs have access to education, just like their peers.

Commending the work of the Foundation, particularly the establishment of orphanages, the commissioner urged relevant stakeholders to support the Foundation in addressing the issue of abandoned and homeless children in society.

Furthermore, she pledged the state government’s backing for the Foundation and other organizations interested in providing social services to the people.
