Edo Govt Schedules First Joint Transition Meeting with APC, Pledges Transparency

The Edo State Government has said the constituted joint Transition Committee comprising members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will hold its inaugural meeting tomorrow the 18th day of October, 29024 at John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), GRA., Benin City.

It vows to get the citizens of the state updated on its day-to-day activity as it regards the transition of government.

The State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare who said this at a press conference in Government House, Benin, said the essence of the meeting is to facilitate a smooth handing over of government from one political party to another.

He said Edo State government has received the names of the APC Transition Committee Members, noting that the government is strengthened to hold its first session of the joint meeting.

“Edo Government look forward to the collaborative efforts of all members in ensuring a seamless transition,” he said.

“This is the first time that Edo State is going through transition of power from one party to another. We will be updating Edo people every day, of every deliberations for the remaining weeks before the handing over date”, Nehikhare said.

The APC Transition Committee members is headed by former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr. Pius Odubu while the PDP Transition Committee members is headed by Secretary to Edo State Government, Mr. Joseph Eboigbe.
