In a significant political development, the People’s Choice Grassroots Mobilization, comprising 26 groups across Edo State, has thrown its support behind the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates, Dr. Asuerinme Ighodalo and Barrister Osarodion Ogie, for the upcoming elections
The announcement followed a meeting held in Egor Local Government Area with Hon. Ekundayo Collins Ukponmwan, the Deputy Director General of the PDP Campaign Council for Egor and Ikpoba Okha.
The meeting, led by Hon. Samson Urhoghide, chairman of the organization, along with the woman leader, Mrs. Marina Matan, and the patron, Chief Kenneth (Decency) Ogbiti, highlighted the group’s commitment to mobilizing grassroots support for the endorsed candidates.
The People’s Choice Grassroots Mobilization spans all 18 local government areas of Edo State, aiming to rally their members to vote for political parties whose visions align with the betterment of the state and its citizens.
Despite some grievances from members regarding past leadership flaws and compromises by political parties, Hon. Ukponmwan addressed these concerns, promising sincere leadership and a people-driven government if the PDP candidates are elected. His reassurances were well-received, leading to a unanimous decision to support Dr. Ighodalo and Barrister Ogie.
The group expressed gratitude to Hon. Ukponmwan for his unwavering commitment to the campaign, stating that their support would help ensure the success of the PDP candidates in the elections slated for September 21st.
This endorsement is seen as a significant boost for the PDP, as the People’s Choice Grassroots Mobilization’s extensive network is expected to influence voter turnout in favor of the party, overshadowing the opposition candidates from the APC and LP.
