When our forefathers told us that we should make hay while the sun shines, we thought that they were bereaved of ideas but a few persons like the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his party were so lucky to have understood it early enough.

Prior to the commencement of the #EndBadGovernment Movement, Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, have been doing their mosquito campaigns.

After their mosquito campaigns, they swung into the Ward-to-Ward campaigns, transversing the length and breadth of the state, registering their presence with their laudable and achievable manifesto.

Ighodalo who many people have come to know as “E go do am” has personally been planting his name into the subconsciousness of the electorate through his billboards in the eyebrows of the city and in the hinterland and by doing this, he has gone far ahead of his co-contestants, kudos to his knowledge of board meetings and managerial skills.

But at the other hand, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their candidate,  Monday Okpebholo, were busy chasing shadows and doing nothing but banking on the federal might and failing to work, campaign and make the necessary moves of selling their candidate to the people.

Now, the #EndBadGovernment has crept in and the electorates in Edo State are sorely angry with the APC government at the federal level and they currently believe the failure will be replicated in Edo state if voted into power. The electorates believe that the party has only succeeded in inflicting pains and anguish on them.

As it is in Edo state today, marketing the party and its governorship candidate is now a difficult brand to sell to the electorates. And if by chance there is no more campaign today, the PDP in Edo state has already done a thorough job that can guarantee them victory at the poll while the people of the state believe that the APC is the bad government they must end by any cost.

The strategic foresight and relentless campaigns by Ighodalo and the PDP have placed them in a favorable position as Edo State heads to the polls. Their proactive approach contrasts sharply with the APC’s reliance on federal backing, which has alienated a disillusioned electorate. With the #EndBadGovernment sentiment gaining traction, the PDP’s groundwork may well translate into electoral success, as the people of Edo State seek to usher in a new era of leadership.
