The ancient city of Benin was momentarily shutdown for the governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election, Mr. Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie.
The essence is for them to have a first hand information and get their lingering questions bothering their minds answered.
The event which took place at the famous Urhokpota Hall at the heartbeat of Benin, happens to be one of the most attended in the recent times in the Benin City metropolis, courtesy of Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie.
Trust the governorship candidate and his running mate who are well grounded in Queens English and our pidgin English, they did not betray the trust of the party and the people who came out to hear them talk and address their needs.
Ranging from the question of where will Alinko Dangote sites his proposed company to the issues of price variations at the local markets and others more serious issues thrown at them were well answered to their amazement.
The duo promised to run an all inclusive government where their needs will always be put into consideration for the betterment of all in the state.
They urged the mammoth crowd at the town hall meeting not to be deceived by the opposition parties sugar coated tongues in the state but be firm in their decision to vote for them by putting their thumb where the umbrella is located.
They maintained that the present government will reward hard work with the view of encouraging the people to be more committed to what they are doing adding that, the era of “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop” is over.
They said, this time around, “monkey go work and monkey go chop and baboon go hungry”
They also assured the people that the governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has laid down a solid foundation for them to build on adding that they will never disappoint them.
