The Edo State deputy governor, Engr. Godwins Omobayo has taken the gospel of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo to members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, with the aim of wooing and ensuring his victory at the forthcoming poll in the state.

Addressing the union at its secretariat in Ibillo in Akoko-Edo, Omobayo told them that the ongoing development in the state must not be aborted, therefore, Asue must be allowed to run along with the developmental process of his predecessor, governor Godwin Obaseki.

The Deputy Governor also visited a large gathering of non- indigenes of Igarra, to canvass for votes in favour of Asue lghodalo, the PDP candidate in the forthcoming governorship election.

While describing Asue lghodalo as the only competent candidate that could transform the lives of the citizenry with the creation of job opportunities and infrastructural development, he urged them not to allow themselves to be deceived by the sweet talk of the opposition parties in the state.

Omobayo charged the Road Transport Workers to deploy their strength in order to ensure Asue Ighodalo emerged victorious at the poll.

In his address, Director General, Asue Ighodalo Campaign Committee, Edo North, Jeffery Ilesomi and other PDP leaders at the event advised members of the Union to disregard the insinuation that the opposition party will rig the election.

They admonished the NURTW members to mobilize support for the election of Asue Ighodalo as Governor of Edo State, come September 21.

Also speaking, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers Akoko-Edo Local Government, Comrade Tony Garuba, pledged their support for the PDP, while assuring the Deputy Governor and his team of the party’s victory in the forthcoming governorship election in the local government.

In a related development, the Deputy Governor and his team also visited members of the Non- indigenes of Akoko-Edo, resident in igarra.

The non-indigenes drawn from various tribes, including Igbo Traders, Yoruba, Hausa and Esan associations, declared their support for the election of the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, in the upcoming Edo Governorship Election.

Various leaders of the different groups, comprising Esan group leader, Mr Iyoha Christopher and his Igbo counterpart, Mr Ifeanyi Louis Okoro assured the Deputy Governor and his team that PDP would witness a landslide victory at the poll come September 21 in the state.
