The OMO-IZA of Igarra Kingdom who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Canada World Conglomerates and Resort, and the President of Edo Progressive Indigenous Association (EPIA) also known as Edo Indigenous Movement Worldwide- Chief Dr. Bishop Omogiade Enoyiogiere Edokpolo has lauded the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Gov. Godwin Obaseki for appointing Omobayo Marvellous Godwins an Akoko-Edo indigene as Edo Deputy Governor.
Omobayo is to replace Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, who was impeached recently by members of the Edo State House of Assembly on gross misconduct.
He said Akoko-Edo has long been marginalised in the political sharing of Edo State.
According to Chief Dr. Edokpolo, “This is a step to eliminating marginalization in Edo State.
“Being one of the oldest local governments in Nigeria, Akoko-Edo has long been deprived of such appointments for a very long time.
“I also like to congratulate all the Chiefs in Akoko-Edo, especially the highly reverend Otaru of Igarra, HRH Oba Emannuel Adeche Saiki II who poses the quality of a philosopher- king that anyone can imagine.
“It’s indeed a milestone in Gov. Obaseki’s administration, “said the Omo-Iza of Igarra Kingdom.
Recall that on Monday, April 8, 2024, Omobayo Marvelous Godwins was sworn in as deputy governor of Edo State to replace Philip Shaibu, who was impeached by the state House of Assembly on alleged misconduct.
Born July 19, 1986, the deputy governor hails from Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. He is an engineer by profession.
He holds a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Msc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
He is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
Until his appointment, he had served as a Senior Maintenance Engineer in Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited.
He has also been active in politics in his local government. He was the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate in the last general election.
