Edo State Labour Party has expressed its deep concern and sympathised with Nigerians, particularly residents of Edo State for the stress and hardship they are presently going through as a result of the current scarcity and hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit PMS.
This was contained in a press release signed by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Sam Uroupa and made available to newsmen in Benin City.
“With the amount of oil and gas deposits under our soil being extracted daily, Nigerians have no reason whatsoever to go through this kind of pains and trauma.
“This is a clear indication of failure of leadership over time.
“The two political parties (PDP and APC) that have led and are still leading this country have failed woefully, they have stolen everything dry from us and what is left with us is the free breath God has given us which they are also planning to take away from us if they have their way.
“Edo State Labour Party wishes to use this medium to identify and salute the courage and doggedness of the suffering masses, the civil society groups, students, opinion leaders and all well meaning edolites who came out in their numbers for a peaceful protest to express their frustration and outright rejection of the APC led insensitive government and its twin brother, the PDP”.
The statement further said that with Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi that there is hope of a working Nigeria where the government will feel the pains and be responsive to the plights of Nigerians.
“Thank God you have tried both APC and PDP and have seen enough reasons for yourselves why you should not entrust them with your future anymore”, it stated.
Uroupa said February 25th 2023 will be an opportunity for Nigerians to end this madness by voting in Peter Obi and all LP candidates for a fresh and new Nigeria that is free from corruption.
“We can not afford to leave this country in the hands of these killers of dreams and those who will destroy Nigerians destinies. Edo is always known for championing positive change in Nigeria, get your PVCs and let us take our county back”.
