The Edo State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi has called on the Muslim faithful in the state to use the month of Ramadan to pray for the peace of the country just as greeted them on this period of their fast.
He stated this in his goodwill messages personally signed and made available to newsmen in Benin City.
Dr. Aziegbemi expressed deep concern over the alarming increase in abductions of vulnerable Nigerians in some parts of the country, particularly the recent incidents involving students in Kaduna, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno, and Almajiri pupils in Zamfara states.
He also called on individuals in the society to use the period of Ramadan to support the less privileged among them to enable them observe the fasting with ease and promote a sense of belonging.
Dr. Aziegbemi urged the Muslim Ummah and the entire people of the state to capitalize on the sacred month to pray fervently for the country and seek relief amid present economic reality.
He called for collective effort at finding new solutions to the security and socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
He however congratulated the Muslim communities in the state and beyond for adhering to the virtues of Islam just as he wishes them a successful 2024 Ramadan fast with abundant blessings.
