Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has granted authorization for the disbursement of gratuity to pensioners who retired from the local governments within the State in 2009. Acting Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Board, Mrs. Arewa Mary Omo, officially conveyed the governor’s decision in a statement duly monitored by Truth Live News.

The announcement marked a significant step towards honoring the service of retired public servants and cements the commitment of the state government to prioritize the welfare of its pensioners. Mrs. Omo emphasized the necessity for affected pensioners to undergo a physical screening process to facilitate the gratuity payment.

Scheduled between Monday, March 25th, and Friday, March 29th, 2024, at the Local Government Staff Pension Board’s headquarters in Benin City, the screening process mandates pensioners to present essential documents, including their retirement letter, pensioner identification card, biometric slip, and pay advice.

This is in continuation of the governor’s sterling policy in finishing well by delivering a robust welfare system that caters for the aged in the state.
