The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has officially refuted a fraudulent school resumption notice purportedly issued by the Ministry of Education. The fake notice, which has been widely circulated, claims that schools in the state will resume on Monday, September 23, 2024. In a circular addressed to all stakeholders in the basic education sector, SUBEB clarified that this information is not authentic and has not been authorized by the Ministry.
According to the circular signed by Mrs. Imuentinyan Akin-Omoyajowo, Board Secretary of SUBEB, the Ministry of Education has neither issued nor endorsed such a directive. “We have liaised with the Ministry and wish to categorically state that the notice is not authentic and does not emanate from the Ministry,” she stated. The false announcement, purportedly signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, has caused confusion among school heads, teachers, parents, and students, prompting SUBEB to step in and clear the air.
The Edo State Government has assured the public that an official announcement regarding the resumption of schools will be made through the appropriate channels. In the meantime, SUBEB urged all stakeholders within the education sector to disregard the false notice and remain patient and vigilant. The board appreciated the continued cooperation and understanding of the public as they work towards providing accurate and timely updates on the matter.
