Edo University, Iyamho, is set to hold its 6th convocation ceremony on February 27, 2025, with 14 students graduating with First Class degrees.
This achievement was announced by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, during a press briefing on Monday.
A total of 430 students will be graduating from the institution, with an additional 140 receiving postgraduate degrees, including 20 Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
The university will also confer honorary degrees on former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Vincent Agenmomen, Chairman of Freedom Group of companies, in recognition of their contributions to Edo State and Nigeria.
The institution maintains its policy of awarding N5 million to graduating students with the best entrepreneurial business ideas.
Edo University has collaborations with Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company and the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas to provide students with meaningful industrial educational experiences.
Prof. Egbefo commended the Edo State Government for installing optic fibre cable broadband across the university, enabling fast data transmission for academics, staff, and students.
“Provision of the Internet is a crucial part of the structure of an institution of higher learning across the world”, he said.
