The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the recovery of over N248 billion in crime proceeds within the last year.
This development was disclosed by Wilson Uwajaren, Director of Public Affairs, during a recent update on the achievements of the commission.
In addition to the N248 billion, the EFCC also recovered substantial amounts in foreign currency, including £53,000 and €172,000. Notably, €5,000 was recovered for victims of crime in Spain.
The efforts of the commission to enhance its rapid response capabilities are expected to lead to a decline in cybercrime.
Furthermore, the EFCC has secured over 35 convictions for Naira abuse by Nigerians at social events.
To expand its reach and effectiveness, the EFCC reveals plans to establish three new directorates in Ekiti, Katsina, and Anambra states.
