Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has called for peace in the country in order to improve stability and progress.
Governor Wike issued the advice in a statement signed by his Special Assistant Media, Kelvin Ebiri, in which he congratulated Muslims on Eid-el-kabir.
The State Chief Executive wished Eld-el-Kabir to all Muslim believers across the country.
He advised Muslims to continuously emulate Prophet Mohammed’s lifestyle, emphasising that Prophet Mohammed represented peace and tolerance.
Governor Wike prayed for peace and wisdom in addressing the nation’s difficulties, particularly insecurity, and urged all Muslim faithful in the state to be calm as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with their counterparts around the world.
The Governor, who reminded Muslims of the significance of the celebration which is selfless sacrifice, total commitment and loyalty, enjoined them to first consider the interest of the nation before any other.
He assured that Rivers State Government will continue to protect the rights of every citizen in the State and also guarantee the freedom of worship and association as enshrined in the constitution.
