Election: Cross River State Council of RATTAWU Elects New Chairman

The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) Cross River State Council has elected a new chairman to pilot the affairs of the Union for 3 years.

She is in the person of Comrade Rosemary Edim Usang.

Comrade Usang who is a staff of the Cross River Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC) Calabar won her opponent Comrade Ekpo Amaku of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Calabar who scored 22 Votes with a hooping 37 Votes.

Speaking at the 10th Triennial Delegate Conference Shortly after oath taken, the new chairman elect Comrade Usang said, she was humble by the number of votes she got, pledging that she will operate an open door policy where matters of the Union and members would be given adequate attention.

Earlier,, the state chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Ben Opebi advised the contestants not to see the election as do or die affair.

in a goodwill Opebi said, ‘I want to advise here that leadership is giving by God. Nobody can be a leader by force except God had designed it to be so. I am a living testimony. Election is not a do or die affair. Let us show the political class example when it comes to the conduct of election. our function as workers is the responsibility in our various offices”
