Election Materials: ICCES Inspects BVAS As INEC Distributes 3,281 To 18 LGAs In C’River

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Cross River has distributed 3,281 Bio-modal Voters Accreditation Systems (BVAS) to the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner Prof Gabriel Yomere, who witnessed the exercise in Calabar the state capital said the BVAS have been reconfigured and recharged in readiness for the elections.

Prof Yomere explained that the BVAS which have been recharged to work for 48 hours are distributed alongside the result sheets and ballot boxes.

He went on to brief newsmen that the result sheets are kept in the central bank and would be made available for party agents to inspect before they are moved to the different INEC area offices in the state.

“Let me say it here, that if you look at the BVAS they are not in the way they were, they have been reconfigured and recharged are 100% ready.

“The BVAS have been charged to work for 48 hours. In other words. Once you open it, in the next two days you don’t need to recharge. The REC said.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Agancy Consultative Committee on Electoral Security (ICCES) Cross River State have inspected the BVAS and result sheets before they were moved to their respective areas.

Speaking shortly before the inspection, the Assistant Commissioner of police in-charge of Operation, ACP Kabiru Ibrahim, assured Cross Riverians that the security agents will be fair in the discharge of their duty.

“All the security agencies are fully represented here. One thing I would say is that we will give all the necessary protection expected from our side. The security agents would inspect the materials and escort them to their destination. ACP stated.

He said members of the public should be rest assure that they will be fair and professional in the discharge of their duty.
