Ex-PDP Chairman Dies In Abuja

A former Chairman of the Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party Victor Bala Kona, is dead.

Kona who was also a gubernatorial aspirant in the 2023 general election reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday in Abuja after a brief illness.

The Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas confirmed the ugly incident in a statement via via the media aide to the governor Emmanuel Bello.

 

The statement described the demise of the former PDP Chairman as painful.

Part of the statement reads: ”We didn’t only lose a political icon but a father and a consummate family man. Hon. Victor Bala Kona’s place in our history is one that is assured and will be respected at all times. His death came at a time when his wealth of experience and knowledge would be most needed.

”I hereby extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and all of us left to mourn this disturbing and irreparable loss.”

Earlier, the Public Relations Officer of the state PDP chapter, Andeta’rang Irammae, had in a statement said the party is saddened by the news of the former Chairman’s demise and prayed God to repose his soul.

The statement read, ”His loss at this time of our political journey is sad and colossal as the government and party that he had assiduously worked for would have continued to benefit from his fountain of wisdom and knowledge ”

Truth Live News reports that Kona was the PDP chairman for eight years from March 2012 to August 2020, during which he worked tirelessly for the growth and sustained leadership streak of the party in the state.

Late Kona later resigned, handing over the party’s PDP leadership in the state to Kefas.
