In an exclusive interview with Truth Live News, Asue Ighodalo, a promising aspirant in the upcoming Edo State PDP primaries, shared insights into his campaign strategy and vision for the state.
Reflecting on his recent efforts, Ighodalo humbly refrained from claiming he is in the “pole position” but emphasized the relentless dedication of his team over the past three months.
He asserted, “I wouldn’t say I am in pole position. What I can say is that in the last 3 months, we have worked very hard, me and my team, and I have a very strong and competent team. We have combed every nook and cranny, met with many stakeholders across the state and party, people of every philosophical bend, and engaged in extensive conversations with the common man and women on the street.”
He stressed the extensive outreach his team has conducted to understand the pulse of the people. He was also quoted as saying, “We know what the issues are. If you say anything has helped us thus far to become better known and better assessed, it is because I work with a team that hardly sleeps. I hardly sleep myself. We are on the road 24/7, working, thinking, pushing, and even begging. That’s what has stood out for us.”
Acknowledging the prevalent skepticism towards the promises of politicians, Ighodalo highlighted the importance of building trust through genuine dialogue and action. “People have a better feel of us now. They have a better understanding of what we are bringing to the table and, by the grace of God Almighty, what we would do for the people of Edo state to move the state into prosperity.
“People are beginning to believe us. There’s been a lot of skepticism in the environment. People are wary of what politicians tell them these days. So in many places I went to, people I meet as I move around say ‘We have had this before. What is going to be different?’ and I have had to spend a considerable amount of time trying to persuade and explain to the people why this time, with the help of the good people of Edo state and the hard work of my team at every level, we would do differently.”
Amidst questions about the uniqueness of his candidacy, Ighodalo emphasized the transformative potential fueled by grassroots support and unwavering determination. “We are working, we are thinking, we are pushing, we are begging,” he asserted, outlining the relentless pursuit of meaningful change.
He acknowledged the need to address skepticism head-on, spending considerable time persuading individuals about the authenticity of his intentions and the distinctiveness of his approach.
Looking ahead, Ighodalo expressed gratitude for the support of the people of Edo State and the unwavering dedication of his team.
