Ahead of the Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary elections, the leading Gubernatorial Aspirant, Asue Ighodalo, has expressed his perspective on the concluded delegates’ election process, emphasizing his focus on engaging directly with delegates rather than making public statements.

In an exclusive interview with Truth Live News, Ighodalo revealed his strategy of actively campaigning and persuading delegates to support his candidacy.

“I haven’t made any public pronouncement or comment on the delegates’ election because I think what’s more in my place is to continue talking to delegates and campaigning and trying to get as many delegates on my side as possible,” stated Ighodalo, underlining his commitment to grassroots engagement and meticulous campaign ahead of the Party Primaries on Thursday, 22nd February, 2024.

Reflecting on the recently conducted ward congresses, Ighodalo commended the transparency and integrity of the process, drawing parallels to historic elections. “I saw people queueing, I didn’t see any rancour… it actually reminded me of the 1993 Abiola election,” he remarked, lauding the peaceful conduct of the elections across Esan Land and other regions.

Acknowledging the role of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, Ighodalo praised their efficiency in conducting the elections. “I give kudos to the National Working Committee of the party for conducting those elections efficiently,” he affirmed, expressing pride in his affiliation with the PDP.

Moving forward, Ighodalo emphasized the importance of engaging with delegates individually to present his candidacy. “The delegates are delegates… We all have to now start convincing,” he asserted, highlighting his tireless efforts in reaching out to delegates and articulating his vision for the party.

Also, Ighodalo emphasized the need for proactive engagement and persuasion, urging fellow aspirants to focus on convincing delegates rather than engaging in criticism from afar.

As the delegates’ election process comes up Thursday, Ighodalo’s strategic approach underscores the significance of direct interaction in securing support for his gubernatorial bid.
