One of the founding fathers and a key member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, has falsified the news making the rounds that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, secretly met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in France.

Mr Maina alleged that rumour of meeting between Mr Wike and Mr Tinubu in France was cooked and circulated by loyalists of the ruling APC, who are after taking advantage of the lingering crisis in PDP, to deepen it and cause the opposition party to collapse.

Mr Maina added that the ruling APC is fueling the rumour in order to turn the opposition PDP’s back against governor Wike, so as lure him out of PDP same way they poison Peter Obi out of the party. This according to Mr Maina will weaken the party and reduce its chances of defeating APC in 2023.

Truthlive.net understand that the recent passive engagement of governor Wike with chieftains of the APC and the Labour Party (LP) has further deepen the worries in PDP.

In a similar vein, another close ally and Chieftain of PDP in Rivers state, when contacted by truthlive.net, also denied the report and tag it a fake news.

He said: “Gov Wike is relaxing in Turkey, I spoke with him early this morning, don’t mind APC people trying to use our man to gain their lost popularity, by the way, Wike and Tinubu who will go to each other?”

Since the selection of the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa on June 16 by the Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, there has been an uneasy calm in the leading opposition party.

A panel had recommended Wike who came second during the presidential primary to Atiku. But Atiku picked Okowa against the recommendation. This pitched him against the Rivers State governor and the people in his camp.

Mr Maina’s position is coming after on Wednesday, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, blasted Atiku Abubakr for sidelining the recommendation of a committee he constituted.

“Fourteen of us in the committee said the person should be Nyesom Wike unfortunately Atiku picked Okowa in is his wisdom. You cannot ignore a decision of a committee you set up yourself and expect people to be happy,” he said.
