It was on the top floor executive suite of the prestigious London Hilton in the football city of Wembley, London, United Kingdom, where the indefatigable and indomitable National Vice Chairman, South-South of Nigeria`s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Dan Osi Orbih is spending part of his vacation, he chooses to speak truthlive.net`s CEO/Publisher, Darlington Okpebholo Ray, Exclusively.
The Esama of Uromi Kingdom who choose to speak on only Edo State and South-South politics had earlier visited New York City, the United States from London, before returning to keep his appointment truthlive.net in London before returning to Nigeria.
The former Edo state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, who was adjudged the most vibrant and vocal opposition state party chairman in Nigeria for almost Ten years and a close ally of the Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, generally believed the best performing Governor in Nigeria since 2015, wasted no time, after exchanging pleasantries and cracking his usual jokes in coming down heavily on some PDP members who recently resigned from the party in Edo State to pick up legislative election tickets in Labour Party.
Orbih who asserted that some PDP eggheads in the state are the ones secretly orchestrating this trend however said that “it is a tragedy in the party in Edo state that some party men are encouraging other members to leave the party and go get political tickets in other parties, whereas they themselves cannot come out boldly to canvas votes for those they are encouraged to leave the PDP”.
The PDP stalwart noted that there are only two major parties in Edo State, the PDP and the All Progressive Congress APC, while others like the Labour Party, do not have a notable presence in the Edo State or anywhere in the South-South.
He said: “No doubt we are in a democracy, there are so many registered political parties and the Labour Party is one of the registered parties with INEC and like somebody rightly captured, and I still want to repeat, as far as Edo state is concerned, those who claim to be in Labour, are wasting their time and resources.”
He further stated that those known PDP “supposed leaders” who are encouraging others to exit the party to seek political tickets elsewhere are doing so at their own peril because once they are caught, “no matter their positions or relevance, they will be sent out of the party”.
He challenged them to boldly come out and support the members they are sending to the Labour party to waste their time and resources, threatening to personally ensure that such members are expelled from the PDP no matter how highly placed.
He added that those who are encouraged to leave PDP should know that they are only being used because those who are encouraging them, can never come out openly to campaign for them.
Chief Orbih who reiterated his stance that the PDP is very strong in all the South-South states where he is currently the PDP Chairman of the zone, boasted that the PDP will win all the elective positions in the six states in the zone, from the states houses of assembly to the Governors and the national assemble seats.
He commended the party leaders of Cross Rivers state, who are working tirelessly to recover the state from the grips of the opposition party and so far, there have been enormous results to show that the efforts are working.
In his words: “That shows the direction of the political osmosis of the state and also shows that nobody is with the Cross Rivers governor that left the PDP.
“To a large extent, the South-South has always remained the strong zone of the PDP, that is why there was evident agitation when people were clamouring that it is the turn of the south to produce the presidency the strongest voice was coming from the South-South. “Other zones who may be jealous of our strength in the South-South should go back home and work.
“I don’t have any apology to render to anyone or zone for being the zone with the strongest PDP base in Nigeria, rather will continue to work harder to achieve more for the party in the zone.”
Chief Dan Orbih explained that he decided to use this period for vacation and get refreshed now so that when he returns to Nigeria, he would have the energy in full blast to ride on from September when the campaigns are to start, till February next year when the general elections are conducted.
