Former Everton and Manchester United midfielder, Marouane Fellaini, has announced retirement from professional football at the age of 36.
The Belgian international, with 87 caps and appearances in two World Cups, reflects on his “incredible journey” in a social media post, expressing gratitude for playing the sport at the highest level.
Fellaini, who transitioned from Everton to Manchester United in 2013 and later joined Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng in 2019, leaves behind a legacy of contributions to both clubs. His notable achievements include helping Manchester United secure the 2016 FA Cup, Europa League, and EFL Cup in 2017.
In his Premier League career, Fellaini made 141 appearances for Everton, scoring 25 goals and providing 14 assists.
His retirement marks the end of a football journey that spanned across international competitions, showcasing his prowess in the Olympics of 2008, Euro 2016, and the World Cups of 2014 and 2018 as part of the Belgian national team.
