Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has echoed manager Enzo Maresca’s stance that the Blues are not yet contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Fernandez’s comments came after Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca has consistently stated that his team is not ready to compete with top-tier teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City.
When asked about Maresca’s assessment, Fernandez expressed his support for his manager’s honest evaluation.
“If the coach says we’re not in the title race, it’s because that’s the reality,” Fernandez told @SC_ESPN.
“We’re always training and playing to defend Chelsea and achieve the best possible results,” Fernandez added, stressing the team’s commitment to excellence despite their current title prospects.
