The Federal Government has commenced the payment of withheld salaries of teachers who benefited from the elongation of service tenure extended by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall that in 2020, during world teachers’ day, Buhari announced some incentives for teachers, including a salary scale and retirement age raise from 60 to 65 years.
However, some teachers who benefited from the program haven’t been receiving their salaries from 2021 to March 2023.
Confirming the Salaries payment, Top officials of the Federal Ministries of Education, Finance, Budget and National Planning, on Sunday said that the teachers have start receiving their salaries and they have also receive the arrears of the peculiar allowances, which will definitely be paid in full, PUNCH report.
Also, One of the teacher in Ilorin, kwara State who benefited from the program, confirming the development, said “It is true, We have started receiving. Though we only got the one for April 2023 we have been reassured that the arrears will be cleared.”
