FG Declares Monday Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 1 as Public Holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

 

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore who disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja said the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.

 

He said, Aregbesola, congratulates workers across the country on this year’s celebration and further commends them for their diligence, hard work and sacrifice, noting that their efforts are responsible for the greatness of Nigeria.

 

He added, “There is dignity in labour, we have to have dedication and commitment to the work we do because it is vital to nation building”.

 

He, therefore, urged employees to adopt a culture of productivity, saying that it was the goal of all work.

 

The Minister further urged workers to raise the bar of their trade in line with the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration’s drive to upgrade the vehicle of governance and make all the people of Nigeria derive maximum benefit from the nation.

 

He gave the people of Nigeria the assurance that, even as the administration is coming to an end, President Muhammadu Buhari’s team is completely committed to ensuring the safety of every resident and visitor to the nation as well as their possessions.

 

“The Minister lauds the security services for the victories they have seen in the fight against crime nationwide and exhorts them to keep up the good work and never give up on stopping criminals whenever they raise their heads.
