FG Pledges Reforms for Fairness, Equality in Sports Scouting

The Federal Ministry of Sports Development, led by Minister Senator John Owan Enoh, has pledged to address practices in the sports sector, ensuring ethical standards and equal opportunities for emerging talents, as stated in a press release on November 21, 2023.

During a courtesy call from the Prestige Football Academy, Senator Owan Enoh emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for sports growth. He acknowledged Nigeria’s sports potential, attracting global scouting activities, and highlighted the crucial role scouting plays in nurturing national sports potential.

Concerning scouting processes, the Minister recognized the positive impact of successful athletes on the nation but underscored the need to address the departure of athletes from Nigeria. He assured a thorough review of the proposal to regulate the scouting system within the country.

Truth Live News reports that Senator Owan Enoh stressed the Ministry’s dedication to fostering fairness, transparency, and professionalism in scouting, aligning with the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration. He emphasized the importance of organized scouting systems and pledged to integrate global best practices into Football Scouting Regulations.

In response to the President of Prestige Football Academy, Uchendu Stephen’s gratitude, the Minister expressed optimism that the proposed reforms, upon adoption, would transform the scouting landscape, ensuring deserving talents receive the attention and opportunities they merit.

The Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga, signed the press release, outlining the government’s commitment to a sports environment that promotes fair play, integrity, professionalism, and equal opportunities for all talents, especially footballers.
