The Finnish Immigration Service has commenced accepting applications for the 2025 Seasonal Work Permit, inviting foreign nationals, including Nigerians, to engage in temporary employment within Finland’s agriculture, forestry, and tourism sectors. This initiative aims to mitigate labor shortages while offering international work experience.

Types of Seasonal Work Permits:

Seasonal Work Visa: For employment up to three months. Applicants from countries requiring a visa must apply at a Finnish embassy before travel. Citizens of visa-exempt countries can apply directly for a Certificate for Seasonal Work through the Finnish Immigration Service.

Residence Permit for Seasonal Work: Covers employment periods ranging from three to nine months. This permit must be obtained before entering Finland, with processing times of up to 90 days, showing the importance of early application.

Eligibility Criteria:

Employment Contract: A signed contract with a Finnish employer is mandatory.

Minimum Earnings: Workers must earn at least €1,430 per month, unless specified otherwise by a collective agreement.

Accommodation: Applicants must have housing that complies with Finnish health and safety standards.

Application Process:

Secure Employment: Obtain a job offer in the specified sectors.

Prepare Documentation: Gather necessary documents, including a valid passport, employment contract, and proof of accommodation.

Select Appropriate Permit: Choose between the Seasonal Work Visa or Residence Permit based on employment duration.

Submit Application and Fees: Apply through the Finnish Immigration Service’s official channels and pay the required fees.

Monitor Application Status: Track progress via the Finnish Immigration Service’s website.

Given the processing times, prospective applicants are encouraged to apply promptly to secure employment opportunities in Finland for 2025.
