The Governor of Abia state Alex Otti, has directed the Commisioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu and the Senior Special Assistant on Aba Rejuvenation, Mr. Uche Ukeje for an on-the-spot assessment of the goods destroyed by the unfortunate fire incident in Ariaria market.
The inferno which occurred in some sections of the popular Ariaria International Market, Aba (Power Line Shoe Maker Zone) destroyed goods worth hundreds of millions of Naira.
Governor Otti, who made this known via his official twitter handle said on Wednesday that the on-the-spot assessment would enable his administration to take informed actions on forestalling a reoccurrence of the tragic incident and assist the traders to mitigate their loss.
While expressing his concern the Governor said, “I received the sad news of the fire incident that happened in some sections of the popular Ariaria International Market, Aba (Power Line Shoe Maker Zone).
“I sincerely sympathise with the traders who lost goods worth hundreds of millions of Naira, and the attendant setback this might have caused their businesses,” he continued.
” To this end, I have directed the Commisioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu and the Senior Special Assistant on Aba Rejuvenation, Mr. Uche Ukeje for an on-the-spot assessment.
“As part of our core mandate” Otti said, ” we will continue to deploy the best solutions and resources to secure the lives and property of our people.”
