Following the flood that submerged major parts of the Trademore estate in Abuja, the Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has declared the estate a disaster zone.
Truth Live News had reported that the 116 houses at the Estate located in Lugbe area of the federal capital territory Abuja was taken over by flood with several casualties recorded.
According to the FCTA, the Trademore estate is a disaster zone that needs immediate action to avoid more casualties thus it is considering evacuating people from the area.
In a statement by its Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, the FCTA disclosed that the flooding incident at Trademore Estate was among the issues reviewed at the FCT Monthly Security Committee meeting.
He expressed dismay barely two days after the flood, people had returned to some of the properties.
Furthermore, Adesola who chairs the Task force on Flood Mitigation in FCT, revealed that the Commissioner of Police and other officials of the FCTA, particularly FEMA, Development Control, AEPB are now ready to go and evolve solutions that would immediately address the menace.
“Having seen the extent of the flooding, we hereby declare the Trademore Estate area a disaster zone that needs immediate action to remedy further damage and loss of lives and property,” he said.
