Former Minister Declared Wanted by EFCC Over Corruption Allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye, wanted over accusations of corruption and forgery.

The EFCC made this announcement through a post shared on it X account on Wednesday morning, shedding light on the allegations against the 75-year-old from Akoko North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The commission stated, “The public is hereby notified that Olu Agunloye, pictured above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of corruption and forgery. Olu, aged 75, hails from Akoko North Local Government Area of Ondo State.”

Truthlive news reports that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had previously accused Agunloye of mismanagement during his tenure from 1999 to 2003. In September, the EFCC interrogated Agunloye regarding an alleged $6 billion Build, Operate and Transfer contract.

In a separate development, the EFCC also declared Iluyomade Tolulope Akunwale, aged 39, wanted in connection with an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretense.

The EFCC’s posts urged individuals with any pertinent information about the whereabouts of Agunloye and Akunwale to contact the EFCC or the nearest police station.

It emphasized, “Anybody with useful information as to their whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its various offices nationwide or through the provided contact number +2348093322644, email address: info@efcc.gov.ng, or report to any security agency.”
